The Unity Bridge puts a 3D model from your PicoBerry workspace into the Unity Editor with one click. There's no downloading and re-importing — the model is imported into your project and placed straight into the open scene. On the Unity side, the free UModeler X plugin receives it, so there's no separate bridge to install.
Before you start
- Install UModeler X in your Unity project, or update it to the latest version (Unity 2022.3 or later).
- Sign in to PicoBerry from the UModeler X panel in Unity — with the same account you use on the web.
UModeler X starts its local connection automatically when the editor opens, so there's nothing else to set up. The connection stays on your own computer (127.0.0.1), and it reconnects by itself after you restart the editor.
Send a model to Unity
- Open a finished 3D model in your PicoBerry workspace.
- Click the paper-plane icon (Send to a 3D tool) in the toolbar under the 3D viewer to open the DCC Bridge menu.
- When the Unity row shows Connected, click it.
- Unity downloads the model, imports it under
Assets/PicoBerry/, places it at the center of the Scene view in your open scene, and selects it.
You can undo the placement with Unity's undo (Send to Unity (PicoBerry)).
Unity row states
- Auto-synced via UModeler X — UModeler X isn't detected in Unity yet. Clicking it opens the UModeler X install window. Make sure Unity and UModeler X are running.
- Connected — ready to send.
- Signed in as (email) in Unity — UModeler X in Unity is signed in to a different account, so sending is blocked. Sign in with the same account.
- UModeler X is out of date — update to send — update UModeler X to the latest version.
Troubleshooting
- "Unity isn't signed in to PicoBerry" — sign in from the UModeler X panel first.
- "Unity is already importing another asset" — wait for the earlier import to finish, then send again. Unity also won't accept a model while it's in Play mode or compiling scripts, so try again once that's done.
- Connected never shows up — reopening the menu searches again on the spot. If your browser asks whether the site may access your computer (local network), allow it.
