UV Unwrap

Re-lay a 3D model's UV map into clean, editable islands — and re-bake its textures onto the new layout.

Every generated 3D model already carries a UV map, but it's often a patchwork of tiny islands that's awkward to edit. UV Unwrap re-lays the UVs into clean, coherent islands and re-bakes the model's existing textures onto the new layout — the same shape and the same look, on a UV sheet you (or an artist) can actually work with.

Reach for it when you plan to hand-edit textures in a DCC (Blender, Substance), or when a model's original UVs are too fragmented to paint on.

How to unwrap

  1. Open the model and switch to the UV tool.
  2. Pick an engine (see below).
  3. Press Generate.

The result is a new model with the same shape, on a fresh UV layout. If the source has textures, its Albedo / Roughness / Metallic / Normal maps are re-baked onto the new UVs automatically, so the look doesn't change — only the layout does.

Engines

  • PB Unwrap (default) — our in-house engine. Fast, low-cost, and no face-count limit. On most models — characters, props, hard-surface objects — it lays out clean, coherent islands ready for a DCC. Recommended for most models.
  • HY3 Unwrap — Tencent Hunyuan's commercial unwrapper. It's the stronger choice for complex, organic shapes — feathers, foliage, highly curved surfaces — where it packs fewer, larger islands. It costs more and processes one model at a time.

After unwrapping

Turn on the UV overlay in the model view to see the new layout. From there, export the model to Blender, Unreal, Godot, or Unity and paint on the clean UVs, or run a fresh Texture pass on the same layout.
